The Johor Port, Johor Bahru
Johor Port is the first port in Johor, Malaysia. It is located in Pasir Gudang, in the south-east state of Johor. It was built in 1977 by Johor Port Authority as a multi-purpose port for most of the cargo. The Johor Port is the first Malaysian port that has a free trade area where warehouses exempt from customs duty. Duty is only charged if the cargo is released for sale in local markets. Area of operations in the free trade zone makes it a central entrepot trade to increase the flow (import, export and transfer) and encourage the manufacturing industry in the area.
Johor Port Terminal has covered 72,000 tonnes for cargo storage place for food and 87,000 tons were for items that can not be eaten. The area is 10,600 square meter closed storage places and 485,623 square meters of open storage. The sender system is equipped with three cranes on the wharf mounted the platform to enable the ship channel their cargo directly to the owner of the cargo storage. Handling productivity is 1,000 tonnes per hour. In 1995, Malaysia’s exports to Brunei amounted to B $ 210 million, but only B $ 38 million sent directly there. Johor Port has been expanding its facilities to improve services to Muara Port in Brunei.
With 5,500 slot that can accommodate a total of 1,000,000 TEUs per year, equipment and facilities in Johor Port, includes:
* 7 gantry cranes, five of them are Post-Panamax cranes;
* 19 rubber tyred cranes transfer;
* 4 reach staker machines to handle bulk materials;
* 46 prime mover;
* Warehouse is dedicated railway and associated with the national rail network, Singapore and Thailand;
* Wharf is 2.4 km long in total;
* The natural depth measuring 13.8 meters that can handle dry bulk ships up to 60,000 dwt easily.
Johor Port has handled liquid bulk cargo, and provide two jetty with four-berth specially designed for:
* Hazardous Liquid Bulk Cargo: Cargo hazards of chemicals, petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Saving a total of 487,000 tons of places are equipped with direct pipeline into the outer storage. Productivity is in the pipeline maximum rate of 1,500 tons per hour.
* Bulk cargo: Split Bulk Terminal has three berths along the 536 meter and supported by mobile cranes capable of loading and unloading of general cargo of up to 300 tons. General cargo, including cargo handled in drums, pallet cargo, lumber and other. Split Bulk Terminal Johor Port has received the approval of the London Metal Exchange (LME) for cargo handling of non-metallic iron.
* Dry Bulk Cargo: Dry Bulk Terminal is reserved for handling of cargo such as grain, flour, cement and others.
* Oil feed, especially palm oil and soybean oil: pipe network port allows liquid bulk cargo handled directly, and increase operational efficiency with a large enough loading and unloading cargo.
