The Historical Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar – Beautiful Architecture

Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar is one of the main landmarks in Johor heartland. It opens 24/7 not only for Muslims congregational prayers but also for tourists. The development of the mosque has said to be the mark of modernization of the state commissioned by Sultan Sir Abu Bakar, the Father of Modern Johor.
It was build by local engineer, Datuk Yahya Awaluddin and supervised by Mr Batwip Mohd Arif. It took eight years of constructions and was first used on February 2, 1900. Its unique architecture is influenced by Moorish architectural design, with four leaning towers surrounding the area.
Today, the mosque is expanding its role. It is full with activities especially during Saturday and Sunday for instance religious classes, pre-wedding course, counseling session, halls and rooms to rent for any function, and so on. Most of the activities are free from any payment or charge at a very minimum rate.

In addition, with collaboration with Johor tourism board, Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar is now offers a catering package for those who are planning to organize an event, wedding and such. The service provides wide range of menu at affordable price. However, more expensive catering package is also provided if you want it so. The package includes the hall fee, which is the place for eating and the cooking tools.
It is said by the Imam Besar Johor that these activities is to ensure the public involvement with the mosque and let them understand that mosque could be more than just a place to pray.
