The Best Donuts In Johor Bahru
When you talk about donuts, it’s always either Dunkin’ Donuts, J.Co Donuts or Big Apple. We seldom discuss about the ones from the makcik stalls by the road side or the ones sold at the pastry shops.
Dunkin’ Donuts is well known. It’s an international donut and coffee retailer founded in 1950 in Quincy, Massachusetts. It has been in Malaysia for quite a while already.
J.CO Donuts is a bakery retailer in Indonesia specializing in doughnuts and coffee. The company is owned and managed by Johnny Andrean Group. J.CO Donuts & Coffee began trading in 2005.
Not much has been heard about Big Apple, but by the mid 2008, Big Apple was acknowledged as one of the fastest growing food chains in Malaysia’s history with 23 stores opening nationwide.
However, Big Apple and J.CO have so much similarities. The design of the donuts right down to the glass trays and labels. Even the store concept is the same. Who’s copying who?
Regardless, once you are at the shop, you will feel like you are in donut heaven.
Some might reckon that Dunkin’ Donuts is better. Not only slightly bigger, but it has more bite to it. The ones from Big Apple is softer. Soft on the inside, sweet on the outside. For those who like more flour in their donuts, better stick to Dunkin’, but if you like something that is light and not so filling, then go for Big Apple. J.CO? Not that we don’t like the taste. Most of theirs are similar to Big Apple, but just that they don’t have as many stores as Big Apple and Dunkin’ Donuts.
So, which one do you prefer. If you like Big Apple, head for their shops at:
- Tesco Plentong, JB
- Kluang Mall, JB
- Jusco Bukit Indah, JB and
- Batu Pahat Mall, Johor.
