Yudi Andika Wins 5th Annual Monsoon Mayhem Surf Challenge at Desaru, Malaysia

The Monsoon Mayhem 2011 was organized by Bigfoot Industries and co-organized by the Surfing Association of Singapore, hosted by the Desaru Golden Beach Hotel, supported by Kerjaan Negeri Johor, Kementerian Pelancongan Malaysia, Jabatan Pelancongan Negeri Johor, Kejora, and Tourism Malaysia.

In an intense battle against his three fellow finalists and the pounding 3-4 foot waves of a seething South China Sea, Yudi Andika from Banda Aceh, Indonesia dodged the countless tirade of waves unloading on the Desaru Beach sandbar to outscore his opponents and retain his title of Monsoon Mayhem Open Division Champion for the second consecutive year. Andika received a trophy and 1,000 MYR (approximately $325 USD) for his win.
Six Deputy Ministers Appointed Foster Fathers

The MCA has appointed six deputy ministers from the party as ‘foster fathers’ of the Chinese community in Labis, Johor in the run-up to the Tenang state by-election.

They are Datuk Wee Ka Siong (Deputy Education Minister), Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai (Finance), Datuk Lee Chee Leong (Home), Gan Ping Sieu (Youths and Sports), Chua Tee Yeong (Agriculture and Agro-base Industry) and Heng Seai Kie (Women, Family and Community Development).

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said their appointments were aimed at bolstering Barisan Nasional (BN)’s support in the by-election. Via Bernama.

Selangor-based Dialog Group Bhd. will lead a consortium investing 5 billion ringgit in a deepwater petroleum terminal at Pengerang, in Malaysia’s southern Johor state, Najib said, confirming an earlier announcement. The facility will have storage capacity of 5 million cubic meters and is being developed in partnership with the Johor state government and Royal Vopak NV, he said.
Tenang: Wanita Umno wants woman candidate

The by-election follows the death of Barisan assemblyman Datuk Sulaiman Taha of diabetes-related blood infection. Nomination day is Jan 22.

Wanita Umno wants the Barisan Nasional leadership to consider a woman candidate for the Tenang state by-election in Johor on Jan 30. Its head Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said Monday that she had proposed Labis Wanita Umno leader Haslinda Salleh as candidate.

“We have submitted the name of Haslinda Salleh as candidate, but we leave it to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (the Prime Minister and Barisan chairman) to decide,” she told reporters at Kampung Sawah Baru here Monday.
Who say we can only surf at overseas? or Hawaii?

For us, Johorean, we can try to surf at Desaru beaches. Seriously, I have no idea at all that Desaru is a location for surfers until I read local newspaper few days ago mentioning it. I haven’t had the time to read the entire article, so I researched about it in Google.

There are some surf activity within the Desaru beach in Johor. Beginner level. Mostly locals and some Singaporean for breaks in weekends. Surfed there once – long baords and boogie boards. Secluded area. Adopted from http://www.globalsurfers.com/read_thread.cfm?ForumID=General&ThreadID=21277&Thread=4658

Well, you can surf actually go straight away to the beach by car and exit at Golden Beach resort. According to some people, the wind in Desaru beaches are good and strong for surfing but the wave is not strong. But, who cares…that’s just a comment from 1 person…

If you are serious and would like to try surfing, I would recommend you to contact Bigfoot Industries. So, who is actually Bigfoot Industries?

Bigfoot Industries was created in 2005 by enthusiasts of extreme sports such as skateboarding, surfing and dirt biking. Sharing a common interest and passion for these sports, these people decided to pull some resources and expertise together. Their professional team has 4 members. And each of them has vital skills that contributes and compliments the team.

Their mission is to help nurture the young and help create an opportunity that was once a dream. In this short period of time, together with the local government, they have created programs and planned events which benefited both the young and the local community. Situated in the heart of Kota Tinggi, Malaysia, they have created a shop that not only stays true to our passion but also contributes back to the community. It has become a popular haunt for the young and upcoming talents in the world of surfing, skateboarding and motocross.

Bigfoot is in other word the company that you can trust to teach and guide you to surf at Desaru. You can get your boards from them either rent or buy it. I’m not sure on further details but if you are want to get wet and rough, call them:
