Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia result was announced nation wide yesterday. It is a natural excitement for students and all school leavers to know the news. As usual, the typical scene of the day, joy, tears, laughter and so on. Whatever the result is, it is just the beginning of a greater journey ahead.

Education Ministry director-general Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd Dom announced the top 10 schools in Malaysia that obtained good SPM achievements in Putrajaya, yesterday. Among the top rankers are schools in Johor , two are boarding schools and the other one is merely a daily school. They are;
1. Sekolah Tun Fatimah, Johor Bahru, Johor;

2. Sekolah Menengah Sains Muar, Johor;

3. SMK Infant Jesus Convent, Johor Bahru, Johor

Among them, Sekolah Tun Fatimah (STF) is also selected as ‘High Performance School’ that was announced early this year. The selection means that the school are qualified to get extra fund for academic programmes, chosen teachers and great facilities in school area. In other words, it is their ‘license to excel’.

Not like in previous years, the government has transformed the way they choose the best schools and top students of SPM. There is no more number of A’s to be counted or how many pupils getting straight A’s in school, but it is now based on the quality of A’s the students get.

Alimuddin  said that this will make students be more focus on their studying performance of each subject and not competing on who’s taking the most subjects in the examinations.
