Rest in Peace for Mrs. Dawn Perry

Sultan Ibrahim Girl School, or better known as SIGS is one of the leading school in Johor Bahru. The school, which obviously for female students only is famous for its high achievement in academic performance, sports, dedicated teachers and not to forget the talented marching band.
SIGS has a strong grip in history of the state as the school was established even before the Malaya gets its independence. Since the school was built, there are a lot of changes and it includes more than just the physical building structure. The school is still standing, gathering girls of JB, and continuing the legacy of sisterhood left by the people years behind.
And since the past few days, SIGS girls are sharing sadness and tears for the lost of one of their great headmistress (also the principal), Mrs. Dawn Perry who had just passed away days ago. Mrs. Dawn Perry was selected as the head of the school in January 1960. She continued her service in SIGS for 27 years before decided to retire. She is described as one the best because of her ability to develop a strong foundation for the school, create the reputation and the name in those early days.
This is indeed a sad story especially to SIGS and below, is the family message to all the girls and those who follow the journey of the school.
Dear All,
Thank you so much for the kind words and tributes. I just got off the phone with Mrs Parry’s daughter – Dr Adeline Tan. I informed her that we’ve set up a tribute page and we would like her and Mrs Parry’s family to read the words from all Mrs Parry’s former students.
Dr Adeline will arrange to have her 20 year old daughter Joanna Loh to get onto this Tribute Page so that the family will have access to these wonderful words/tributes.
As an update, Dr Adeline is planning for a MEMORIAL sometime in JULY 2010 where they will have a ‘celebration of life’ and invite as many as possible to attend. Please share this with everyone you know from SIGS. I will keep all informed in due course
