Anybody remember Hyatt Hotel Johor Bahru? Well, Hyatt is no longer running and it is now being replaced with the new Thistle Hotel.

Thistle, a part of Guoman Hotel Management (UK) Ltd, operating a number of hotels throughout the UK has opened Thistle Johor Bahru in Malaysia. Thistle Johor Bahru is the second property in Malaysia after Thistle Port Dickson Resort. The hotel is located in one of Malaysia’s business districts and is just across the border from Singapore, overlooking the Straits of Johor.

The hotel offers 381 bedrooms including 125 luxury rooms. It has a state-of-the-art fitness centre and spa, two restaurants, two bars, tennis court, a large ballroom events space, which can accommodate 650 guests and an outdoor ‘resort style’ swimming pool. For its long-term guests, the hotel also offers 19 apartment units for rent.

Paul Poh, Managing Director, GuocoLand Malaysia, owners of the Thistle hotels in Malaysia, added, “Just a few weeks ago we launched Thistle Port Dickson Resort, and it is a great feeling to see our two-year strategy for expansion materialising with the opening of our second Malaysian hotel, Thistle Johor Bahru“.
