More CCTV Cameras To Fight Crime In Johor Bahru
Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said the CCTV cameras would be placed at various crime hot spots in Johor Bahru in order to prevent crime in JB.
THE number of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be increased from 40 to 2,000 in an effort to boost security in the state capital, especially at Iskandar Malaysia.
“Currently, the state has only 40 CCTV cameras and the added cameras will help in crime prevention,” he said.
Abdul Ghani said in addition to the surveillance cameras, Johor would also increase the number of police personnel, adding that 948 officers would join the force.
“We are also looking at building community policing posts at various residential areas statewide.
“At least 100 posts will be erected at housing areas to reduce the crime rate,” he added.
