Iskandar Johor Golf Open Results
The Malaysian were not good enough to be in the top three. Too bad. Malaysia’s best finishers in the Iskandar Johor Golf Open were Danny Chia and Rashid Ismail, who posted a three-round total of 211 for joint 28th spot with seven others. Danny and Rashid earned US$8,211.11 each for their efforts while another Malaysian, Iain Steel, received US$4,333.33 for 47th place with eight other golfers.
South Korea’s K.J. Choi won the Iskandar Johor Open title by four strokes with a final-round flourish of eight-under 68 at the Royal Johor Country Club on Sunday. He posted a total of 20-under 196 in the full-field Asian Tour event that was reduced to a 54-hole tournament because of bad weather. The final round was suspended for two hours due to thunderstorms. Choi carded eight birdies on the final day and saw off the challenge of overnight leader Himmat Rai of India and a late surge by unheralded Thai Chapchai Nirat and defending champion Retief Goosen. Chapchai Nirat who was in fifth position after the second round, took second place.
