Hands Off Our Ron 95

Starting from Aug 1, vehicles with foreign registration plates can only buy RON 97 fuel.

Last week, the Malaysia government announced the new prices for:
* RON95 – RM1.85 increased of RM0.05
* RON97 – Float
* Diesel – RM1.75 increased of RM0.05
* LPG Natural Gas – RM1.85 per kg – increased of RM0.10

RON97 petrol will no longer be subsidized by Malaysian government, and the price is subjected to market forces. With that, Ron 95 in Malaysia is strictly for locals.

Enforcement officers will be placed at petrol stations, particularly in the border areas in Kedah, Perlis, Johor, Kelantan and Sabah and Sarawak, to ensure petrol kiosk operators do not sell subsidized RON 95 fuel to foreign-registered vehicles.

However, I don’t think this will be a problem to Singaporeans who pumps in Johor Bahru. Even though our Ron 97 is subjected to market price, it is still very cheap compared to filling petrol in Singapore. I think it is almost 50% cheaper.
