Haziq Kamaruddin and Shahira Abdul Halim delivered two gold medals for Johor in archery to bring the total tally for the southern state to four on the third day of the Sukan Malaysia XIII Melaka 2010. The 17-year-old Haziq won gold in the men’s 50metre recurve with a score of 333 to narrowly win the event over Pulau Pinang’s Mohd Fareez Rosli who had to settle for the silver and Mohd Izzuddin Abdul Rahim to the bronze.

This year’s Sukma in Malacca is not getting much publicity in the media because the Games is held at the same time as the World Cup football tournament in South Africa. Even if it does, I am sure most of you will be more interested in World Cup news rather than Sukma.
