Maid abused for three months

Maid claims she was terribly beaten with a helmet and belt. All she wanted was to work in Malaysia to get funds for her two young daughters back in India. But, during the three months she has been here, Aishabeevi from Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu claims she has gone through abuse and mental torture inflicted by her employer.

Her problems as a domestic maid began shortly after she arrived in Singapore on July 10. Her employers
picked her at the airport and brought her to his family’s home in Taman Johor Jaya, Johor Bahru.

After five days she realised her employers were not really the nice people she thought they were. “I started to realise that I was not in a safe place when they started to abuse me and threatened to kill me.

When I refused to follow their instructions, they would beat me up,” she claimed, adding that she had been beaten many times with a helmet and a belt.

Further, Aishabeevi alleged she was forced to eat pork even though she is Muslim. She also said she could not perform her daily prayers.

“I had no choice but to perform my prayers in the toilet sometimes, and I could not do whatever I should be doing as a Muslim.”
