Kuala Lumpur, Jul 30 (PTI) A first of its kind Hindu temple built with more than a million pieces of colourful glass will soon be unveiled in Malaysia.

The Arulmigu Sri Raja Kallamman temple, the country’s first glass temple, in Jalan Tebrau in Johor Bahru state will not only be a boon to Hindu devotees but would also be a major tourist attraction, Bernama news agency reported.

Built at the cost of RM3 million, it is the first glass temple of its kind in the world, said temple chairman S Sinnathamby.

He said 95 per cent of the temple’s walls, ceiling, domes and pillars were adorned with more than one million pieces of colorful glasses imported from Thailand, Japan and Belgium.

“The glass work were carefully placed together by nine Myanmar workers. Motifs and symbols like Swastika, Namam and Sri Chakra were created from the glass work in seven colors,” he said.

He added that the temple was built on land awarded by the Sultan of Johor in 1922 and it was renovated for the first time in 1996. The air-conditioned temple, which could accommodate 1,500 devotees, will be officially opened on Oct 25, he added. See the pictures our blogger took from the glass temple.

do you think we too spend so much on a temple. Why are wasting our money on temples. God di not request us to do so.

He asked to help the poor and needy. When it come to charity NO INDIAN will contribute any amount to help.

There so many Tamail school which needs aid. Some many Hindu suffering.

These should have been used to help our Hindu society grow.

    hi ,

I just heard a great news about this temple. My brother went to jb 2day ago and happen to go this temple. By the time my brother went the temple was close its only open on “pooja” time . He and his only manage to see the temple from outside and took some picture. Here come the good news, the management of temple allow other races to enter the temple at anytime. The only thing they have to do for that is just pay RM10 and use the back way. How nice the story is??

Why dun they ask that RM 10 from indian as allow them in? Why indian dun have money to pay? Most of the people that i know take a trip to see the beauty of temple.

There are spending so much of money to come there and dun have money to pay that RM10.We as indian we know the management people have spent so much money to build the temple.

Indian is being races-es to indian how is that?

    Hi Jamuna

Sorry to hear about that. Anyway, there’s nothing much can be done except you write directly to the management temple. Other than that, we just hope that they will read JBCool and improve further.
